ive been playing nightfall for a long time now, and i decided to take my ranger thru factions just for a change. in nightfall you usualy have 2-3 heros on the team and at most 4 ppl on a team. in factions i had a blast last night because for the first time in months ive had a group where everybody is a human player. now, thats not going to be the case when i get into the luxon/kurzick zones because those literaly are graveyards. but anet isnt stupid, they knew that cantha was going to die out slowly and thats probaly a big reason for the heros so getting in a group with baraly anybody around would be much easier

I'm enjoying factions so far, having bought it from the online store a few weeks ago, mostly because I wanted to try out the ritualist and assassin classes. The addition of new classes with each chapter does help to create a permanent appeal for the chapter. If you ever want to play Ritualist or Assassin (both great classes, but rit is better ) Factions is indispensable. However, as the world gets bigger, the towns get smaller, and Kaineng City stays ugly and hard to move around in. There are better places to buy/sell and chat.

Still, I'd like to see other campaigns tie into the rest. It would be great if future campaigns could open the door to some new areas (for example, if GW 4 unlocked new areas within Cantha, Tyria, and Elona, rather than introducing a whole new continent). Or if, for example, new skills and rare items were introduced within existing campaigns, or in these new areas.

Not sure why your saying Factions is dead? Me and my guidlies have been playing through Factions the past couple of days, its been great fun

Chapter 1 and 2 are still popular.

Whenever a new chapter cames out people will always flock to it, but in time they always return to older Chapters.

I have a Canthan mesmer that just hit Vizunah Square and an assassin on Shing Jea Island. There are people everywhere I go, and lots of calls for help with Canthan missions on our alliance channel. Some outposts aren't very populated, but I've seen the same in smaller outposts in Prophecies, and even Elona.

Just my opinion but factions will be fine. Its probably the best place to start any of the core classes because you can hit lvl 20 in 1 day easily. Lately anywhere I go in Prophecies has been dead with the exception of Lions Arch and Droks. Real shame because Chapter 1 will always be my favorite, but being as you can do the whole thing with Heroes and Henchies (Trust me I did it with my Canthan born warrior for fun) theres not much hope for it. Oddly enough though its funny to see alot of folks in Pre-Searing trying for the new title

The mainland is very dead.

I've been helping people through Vizunah with my necro running as an MM. usually, it's one or two humans from Foreign Quarter with an all-hench team on the Canthan side.

Places like Gyala Hatchery and Eternal Grove are empty. Maybe three or four people at any given time.

Let's put it another way: I see more people in the Henge of Denravi than I do in Cantha's mission outposts.

Which is too bad, because I love some parts of Cantha. They're still there, but very lonely...

EDIT: Perhaps this is a regional thing. I'm on the American servers; maybe Europe and Asia have more Factions fans?

I recently finished Prophecies for the first time and started playing through factions for the first time. I love it so far, I dig running through the decaying city and all that. As of right now (4th mission) I like it better than the first 4 or so missions in prophecies (I really only enjoyed the northern and southern shiverpeaks parts of prophecies anyways).

They will make schedualed changes to the 2 elite missions and the appropriate gates in factions after nightfall spam has settles down further, but otherwise if people choose to hop into Cantha for a quicky then good for them.

Anet doesn't care cause Cantha is done and production continues for future revenue from future chapters which will die in the future.

Gawd, frickin massive posts in this forum... Well, of course, I'll throw in my 2 bits too...

Its NOT true that Prophecies and Factions haven't seen an update in ages, au contraire, I read the updates page all the time at GW.com and know that the last few major updates had updates to even prophecies and Factions missions (but mostly nightfall stuff). Take a look and read closely. Anet still supports these games in some form...

I LOVE Factions, and hope it sees a resurgence soon with perhaps a discount or re-release in some form by ArenaNet. In some ways I loved it even more than Prophecies... Both are great games but for different reasons, as we all know. I loved the fact that Factions focused on accessible, FUN PvE... HoH has been, and still is, in my opinion, fatally flawed and inaccessible to the average user.. Sure, I've played rounds there and gotten far enough... But it was never very accessible or enjoyable.. Prophecies doesn't have squat on Factions as far as PvE goes.. Factions also had some amazingly beautiful, detailed and diverse artwork that Prophecies can't even come close to. It does have a vastness to it, and I wish more people were in-game too at times.

I hope none of these games ever become 'unsupported'... The artwork alone is a spectacular, well, work of art. What hasn't drawn me in so far to the same extent as the other two is Nightfall... But perhaps its just because I'm getting a bit tired of the GW universe.. I know I can return to it at any time however, and theres always some goal or weapon or skill I'd like to cap in each campaign.

Long live all three campaigns!! I love the fact that they aren't going away any time soon, and I'm not paying massive fees. These games deserve to exist due to their sheer immensity, brilliance and beautiful worlds and artwork.
